Independencia Room (Independence Room)
On the 11th of November of 1811, the province of Cartagena de Indias gave its final and absolute independence cry from Spain. A little later the Spanish military leader Pablo Morillo sieged Cartagena in a last effort to reconquer Cartagena on behalf of the mother country. After heroically defending itself from Morillo, the liberator Simón Bolívar named Cartagena the “Heroic City”. From that moment on, Cartagena has been known by that name. The Independence Room reflects a style that corresponds to said historic period of the Colombian territory.
