San Pedro Claver Room

The slaves were traded all the way from the coast of Guinea to Cartagena. In the 17th century, Cartagena became the only port authorized and equipped for the entry of slaves in the central Caribbean area. It also became the biggest black slave trade market in the New World. San Pedro Claver, a Jesuit priest, whose full name was Pedro Claver y Corberó, became the defender of the Cartagena slaves. This room is dedicated to this man, who dedicated his life to the defense of slaves.
